Launch 2/10/14

Throughout the final project in regards to choosing a career that I want to stick with when I get out of high school, I had a very hard time deciding what I wanted to do for there are many options I would like to explore as I have stated in some of my previous posts. I like working with people and I like technology so why not combine the 2? Human computer interaction is what I came across in my research process.

What is Human computer interaction?

Human–computer interaction involves the study, planning, design and uses of the interaction between people and computers. It is often regarded as the intersection of computer science, behavioral sciences, design and several other fields of study.

To answer all 6 questions that were part of this prompt, number 1 would be that the study I would like to throw myself into from now until June would be Human computer interaction because with technology all around us these days and people obviously it's interesting putting the 2 together and seeing how their are reactions from both parties. Someone within this line of study that would be beneficial to talk to and or learn from would most likely be a handful of experts that I have come across but the main person that stands out to me would be Jakob Nielsen Ph.D and the founder of the Nielsen Norman Group involving computer interaction between man and technology through a range of user friendly interfaces. This man definitely knows what he's talking about because he is able to understand what people need and incorporate his methods into the usable technology this man creates then puts out onto the market for purchase, etc.

When talking to my peers, I was able to see that many of them were confused on the whole subject of human computer interaction. Some students literally took it as people getting involved with "human computers" much like a robot however this field of study is far from that I believe.

This article talks about Usability engineering and after reading this it became more clear that some people have a hard time with technology and the changing world today. To be able to acquire assistance in certain interfaces and or technology in general is a world of help because it not just helps a customer but it also helps those working in the field of human computer interaction to see what majority of the common person is getting held up on and how it can be avoided, fixed, and so on…

Every time I read a different article, there wasn't much that I got out of it other than finding out more about human computer interaction and how it can become a booming industry in the future to come. I also found out that it isn't many of the young people having a problem with technology as much as it is the older generation therefore they are the ones being targeted mostly so they can be helped in their changing worlds as well.

Human computer interaction isn't something that's just needed in the US, this is a line of industry that can be helpful around the world such as 3rd world countries because they to need to be up to date with everything that's happening in the world to the best of their abilities. That's where the students that are training under this field of study come in handy because some students are able to fly out to whatever country that's in need of help when it comes to technology and there you have it… So basically this job isn't just behind a desk like the rest of traditional jobs, you literally are able to help anyone, wherever, whenever as you please based on how well you understand technology and the way many people go about using it these days.
